Rhododendrons

Here at Blueskin Nurseries we take pride in having an extensive range of sizes and over 150 varieties. Rhododendron Christmas Cheer is the earliest of the rhododendrons to flower, followed by Cornubia, a much taller growing red variety. Unfortunately these early ones can get damaged by frost, so remember this when choosing your planting site. Good hardy varieties which flower later are Dear One, City of Dunedin, Grace Seabrook and Powhuska.

Living in one of New Zealand’s best Rhododendron growing climate, we can all enjoy the vibrant colours in our gardens, along roadsides and in the fantastic Rhododendron Dell at the Dunedin Botanic Gardens which is definitely worth a visit. Don’t forget Dunedin Rhododendron Festival in October, make some time to visit the botanic gardens and other private gardens around Dunedin.
